Don Peters and his beautiful wife Dee hosted several great parties in the old days. This one was for Sergio Oliva who was in Los Angeles in the summer of 1968 to pose at an IFBB show promoted by Dick Tyler.

The man on the far left is Dr. Andy Burpee. The kid on Sergio's lap is Steve Peters (Don & Dee's son); the kids on the bottom are (from left) Guy Gironda and three of Dan Mackey's children. Mrs. Mackey is just below Dan, and Dee Peters is next to Don. The gal on the upper right is Dan's sister inlaw.

A very relaxed Joe Weider and Betty had a great time as did everyone present. Don Peters had a pool table inside the house and I actually managed to beat Sergio in a game of 8-ball. Don also had a complete gym inside the house which was his second home used primarily as a gym and guest house.

The Peters lived in a very beautiful home about two miles away in Sherman Oaks. The "gym house" was in North Hollywood near Valley College. Don Peters was a great guy and I always called him "The All American" bodybuilder because he was always in great shape and he was a great athlete as well. He was a very classy guy and real gentleman.

Dan Mackeys gym (named The Gym) was the first commercial gym I ever worked out in. Never found another all bodybuilding gym with great atmosphere like it. Dan had a great sense of humor and great stories, I learned a lot from Dan. This was in '74-'75. I think he was influenced by Vince a lot. Went to Vince's gym one time, but Vince wasn't there that day. A real hole in the wall place, truely hardcore.
